nos·tal·gia
näˈstaljə,nə-/
A sentimental longing or wistful affection for the past, typically for a period or place with happy personal associations.

Since I was a little girl, I’ve longed to know what it was like before my time. Among all of my old keepsakes and vintage books, clothes, and trinkets, are my old family photos. They are my most prized possessions. There’s something so haunting and magical about those little snippets of time that never cease to move me. I look to those photographs I love so dearly for inspiration in my own work.

Nostalgia represents my longing for happy times–cooking and laughing; a room full of rambunctious children, or walking through my mom’s garden on a quiet morning. These are the moments I want to remember. These are the moments I want to photograph.

The world needs dreamers and the world needs doers, but above all, the world needs dreamers who do.

Kimberly NicholsThe Girl Behind the Camera

My goals in life are to never stop learning and creating, surround myself with those I love, and remember the importance of positivity and compassion. I am an ambitious artist and designer, proud aunt and avid gardener.

I grew up in a tiny little town in Sumter County, Alabama, and planted my roots here in Mobile after high school. My parents, both passionate dreamers and horticulturists, have instilled in me a longing to create a unique and beautiful life – even if that means going against the grain. I’m not afraid of hard work, because challenges make us stronger.  I am constantly striving to gain new experiences and ensure that my skill-set is ever evolving.

Education & Training

In 2012, I graduated from Spring Hill College with a bachelors degree in graphic design and studio art. Since then, I’ve been immersed in the nonprofit sector, learning the ropes in marketing and design, while juggling freelance design work and a photography business on the side. Throughout my early career, I’ve had the unique opportunity to work with world class talent to rebuild brands from the ground up and shed light on critical social issues.
